Ein Bericht aus dem sozialen Wohnungsbau.

Seit 30 Stunden wohnen wir im 13.Stock der "Grohner Dühne", in Bremen-Nord.

Eine Stein gewordene Utopie aus den 70er Jahren. Wir wollen berichten, über das Leben hier, und Geschichten sammeln, von den Menschen, die hier leben. Und hier wohnen viele Menschen, aus den unterschiedlichsten Ländern. Ein sozialer Brennpunkt. Vor ein paar Jahren wollte man das ganze Ding abreissen. Doch dann hat man überall Überwachungskameras installiert und einen Wachschutz angagiert, der gute Verbindungen zur Polizei pflegt.<<

Okay after quite a while of going through the lows of a exjob seems like I was on the right track again.

Today was visiting Weimar-West and Nord with a digicam to shoot short sequences for the lenticular prints.

The plan now is:

Produce a series of backlit lenticular prints based on Otomo's Domu. The title of the work will be something like "The 31st story" referring to the Sjöwall/Wahlöö book and playing around with the meaning of the word "story".

Each lenticular print represents exactly 1 second / 24 frames of motion image while each frame can also be viewed by itself.

One question still remains about having "cuts" and different scenes within one print or not.

”The promenade architecturale: the succesive perspective views of the movement of an imaginary spectator on the Acropolis constructed by Auguste Choisy to demonstrate the “succesive tableaux” and “pittoresque” composition of the site. Eisenstein asked his reader simply “to look at it with the eye of a film-maker”.

”Eisenstein finds in the carefully sequenced perspectives presented by Choisy the combination of a “film shot effect”, producing an obvious new impression from each new, emerging shot, and a “montage effect”, whrere the effect is gained from the sequential juxtaposition of the shots. The filmmaker speculates on the desirable temporal duration of each picture, finding the possibility that there was a distinct relatiionship between the pace of the spectator’s movement and the rhythm of the buildings themselves, a temporal solemnity being provoked by the distance between each bulding. [...] There is an inner equilibrium when the entire site is viewed from afar.”
